Paolo Conte was born in Asti on January 6, 1937. With a law degree and practicing as a lawyer, he approached jazz as a self-taught musician, playing piano and vibraphone, while beginning to compose songs with his brother Giorgio. As a songwriter, he penned pieces that would become milestones in Italian popular music, including "Azzurro" and "La coppia più bella del mondo" for Adriano Celentano. In 1974, he abandoned his legal career to dedicate himself entirely to music, releasing his first self-titled album. Full success arrived in 1979 with "Un gelato al limon," followed by masterpieces such as "Paris Milonga" and "Via con me." Along with Fabrizio De André, he is the artist with the most accolades from the Club Tenco, with six Tenco Plaques and one Tenco Award, as well as a David di Donatello for the soundtrack of "La freccia azzurra." Appreciated worldwide, particularly in France, he remains one of the most original and refined voices in the Italian singer-songwriter scene.
