Franco Baresi (Travagliato, May 8, 1960), nicknamed Kaiser Franz in homage to Franz Beckenbauer, is universally considered one of the greatest footballers of all time and the greatest defender in the history of Italian football. An absolute legend of Milan, he wore the red and black shirt for seventeen consecutive seasons, winning six Scudetti, three European Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, and two UEFA Super Cups. Number 6 is the number he wore throughout his Rossoneri career and which Milan permanently retired in his honor in 1997 — the only number retired in the club's history. With the Italian National Team, he played in three World Cups, reaching the final of USA 1994.
