Daniel Lowell Peterson (Evanston, January 9, 1936) is one of the most beloved and iconic figures in the history of Italian basketball. An American coach who arrived in Italy, he led Olimpia Milano — under its Simmenthal, Cinzano, and Tracer Philips names — winning Italian titles and European cups that wrote indelible pages in the history of continental basketball. With Olimpia, he won two EuroLeague titles, two Intercontinental Cups, and numerous national championships, becoming an icon of Italian basketball at all levels. After retiring from coaching, he became one of Italy's most popular television commentators, bringing his knowledge and wit to NBA courts for generations of fans. Member of the Italian Basketball Hall of Fame since 2012.
