Simone Vergassola (La Spezia, January 24, 1976) is an Italian midfielder who built his career mainly with Sampdoria, Torino, and Siena. After five seasons with Sampdoria that established him as a prominent Serie A midfielder, in the summer of 2001 he moved to Torino, where he wore the number 15 jersey for two seasons. Good at making runs and recovering the ball, he then continued his career at Siena, a club with which he avoided relegation for three consecutive seasons and with which he ended his playing career in 2015, before embarking on a coaching career. He is the cousin of actor and comedian Dario Vergassola, with whom he shares his La Spezia origins.
