Giorgio Cavazzano was born in Venice on October 19, 1947. He began working at a very young age, at just twelve years old, as an assistant to his cousin Luciano Capitanio in inking Disney comic strips, and then became, at fifteen, the trusted inker of the great master Romano Scarpa. He made his debut as an independent artist in Topolino (Mickey Mouse) in 1967 with the story "Donald Duck and the Hammer Hiccup," beginning a long and extraordinary career that established him as one of the most celebrated and innovative Disney illustrators in the world. Author of hundreds of memorable stories and famous cinematic parodies such as "Casablanca" and "The True Story of the Twentieth Century," in 2003 he also signed the first Spider-Man story entirely created by Italian artists. Official cover artist for the Disney "Anni d'Oro" (Golden Years) series since 2009, Giorgio Cavazzano remains an absolute point of reference for generations of comic readers and artists worldwide.
