Autographed Photo – Tommy Caldwell – Dawn Wall El Capitan Yosemite 2015 – 20 x 15 cm – COA included

The autographed photo of Tommy Caldwell on the Dawn Wall of El Capitan

A keepsake that tells the story of one of the most famous feats in the history of world climbing. The color photograph depicts the suspended camp on the Dawn Wall of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park: a climber ascends the rope with handholds while his companion rests in a sleeping bag inside the Black Diamond portaledge, hanging hundreds of feet above the ground, with the valley bathed in the golden light of sunset. An iconic image of the free ascent in January 2015, which held the entire world in suspense. Tommy Caldwell's original autograph is signed with a blue marker on the upper part of the photo, with a bold and clearly visible stroke. The 20 x 15 cm format is ideal for framing and display.

The athlete: Tommy Caldwell

Tommy Caldwell (Estes Park, Colorado, August 11, 1978) is considered one of the greatest big wall climbers of all time. On January 14, 2015, together with Kevin Jorgeson, he completed the first free ascent of the Dawn Wall of El Capitan after 19 days on the wall, considered for years the most difficult big wall on the planet, a project pursued for seven years. With Alex Honnold, he completed the Fitz Traverse in Patagonia in 2014 and set the speed record on the Nose of El Capitan in 2018, in under two hours. His story is told in the documentary The Dawn Wall and in the autobiographical book The Push.

What is an original autographed photo?

An original autographed photo is an image on which the athlete has placed their own handwritten signature, with real ink and documented provenance. It is distinguished from reproductions with a printed signature by verifiable elements: the irregular and natural pressure of the stroke, the relief and reflections of the ink on the surface, the spontaneity of the graphic gesture. In the collecting of climbing and outdoor sports, the autographs of the great protagonists are rare, and a photo linked to a historic feat like the Dawn Wall acquires over time a particular collectible and sentimental value.
