Valerio Mastandrea was born in Rome on February 14, 1972. After his theatrical debut in 1993, he made his cinematic debut the following year with Ladri di cinema. He received his first award in 1996 with the Grolla d'oro for Tutti giù per terra, followed by a career full of successes that led him to receive twelve David di Donatello nominations, winning four: for La prima cosa bella (2010), Gli equilibristi and Viva la libertà (both in 2013), and Fiore. Also active as a director, screenwriter, and writer, since 2021 he has played Inspector Ginko in the Manetti Bros.' Diabolik film trilogy, alongside Luca Marinelli and Miriam Leone.
