Maria Giovanna Elmi was born in Rome (Ostia) on August 25, 1940. After graduating in Modern Literature and an experience as a photomodel, she joined Rai in 1968 as an announcer, becoming one of the famous "Signorine Buonasera" from 1974. She achieved national fame with the children's program "Il Dirigibile" (1975), in which she played the fairy Azzurrina alongside singer Mal, earning her the affectionate nickname "Fatina" (Little Fairy). Between 1977 and 1978, she hosted two editions of the Sanremo Festival, and in the 1980s, she presented programs such as "Almanacco del giorno dopo," "Il Sistemone," and "Sereno Variabile" with Osvaldo Bevilacqua. She also acted in several films, including those by Massimo Troisi and Maurizio Nichetti. Returning to the spotlight in 2005 with her participation in "L'Isola dei Famosi," Maria Giovanna Elmi remains one of the most affectionately remembered faces of Italian television.
