The season of the first European Cup: Franco Baresi

The jersey reproduced in this work is the same one worn by Arrigo Sacchi's Milan in the 1988/1989 season, that of Berlusconi's first European Cup, won in Barcelona against Steaua Bucharest 4-0. Franco Baresi (Travagliato, May 8, 1960 – Milan, July 31, 2026), Rossoneri captain since 1982, was the fulcrum of that zonal marking defense that revolutionized Italian football, capable of combining defensive solidity and build-up play from the back. With Milan, he won six Scudetti, three European Cups, and two Intercontinental Cups, remaining with the club for his entire career until his retirement in 1997. His number 6 was retired by the club at the end of his career, a tribute reserved for very few captains in the history of Italian football.
