Franco Baresi (Travagliato, May 8, 1960 – Milan, July 31, 2026) joined AC Milan's youth academy at fourteen and became captain in 1982, remaining with the club for his entire career until his retirement in 1997. Nicknamed Kaiser Franz in honor of Franz Beckenbauer, he led the Rossoneri through their golden age of the late eighties and early nineties, winning six Serie A titles, three European Cups, and two Intercontinental Cups. Precisely during the Motta sponsorship years, between 1991 and 1994, Baresi was at the peak of his athletic maturity and continued to represent the symbol of an AC Milan capable of dominating in Italy and Europe. His number 6 was retired by the club at the end of his career, a tribute reserved for very few captains in the history of Italian football.
