Career
Walter De Vecchi was born in Milan on February 18, 1955. He grew up in AC Milan's youth sector, where he made his Serie A debut in 1974. After a loan spell at Varese and three seasons at Monza, he returned to the Rossoneri in the summer of 1978 for the 1978-79 season, the one of the "Stella" (star) Scudetto: under the guidance of Nils Liedholm, he became a fundamental player in the team, scoring 5 crucial goals, including the celebrated brace in the return derby against Inter on March 18, 1979, a historic comeback that launched the Rossoneri towards their tenth Scudetto. Nicknamed "the Lawyer" for his tactical intelligence and calm demeanor off the field, he continued his career at Ascoli and then Napoli with Diego Armando Maradona in the 1984-85 season, followed by Bologna and Reggiana, where he retired in 1991 after almost twenty years of professional football. As a coach, he managed SPAL, Cesena, Cosenza, Como, and Venezia before returning to AC Milan in 2003, where he became responsible for individual technique across all Rossoneri youth teams, a role he still holds today with recognized authority.
