The Friulian Black and White History
Udinese Calcio was founded on November 30, 1896, making it one of Italy's oldest football clubs, initially established as a gymnastics and then sports club in the heart of Friuli. The black and white colors, shared with the more famous Juventus, have become the symbol of the club from the city of Udine, distinguishing it as one of the historic realities of Italian football. Udinese experienced its golden age in the 1950s when, with the legendary Carlo Dell'Innocenti as coach and a team that included the phenomenal Rosario Lo Bello, the Friulian club achieved second place in the 1954-55 championship, its best historical placement in Italian Serie A. In the 1970s and 1980s, under the presidency of Mazza first and then Pozzo, Udinese returned to prominence with champions like Zico, the Brazilian striker who arrived in Udine in 1983 and became a symbol of Friulian football, as well as Franco Causio, Pietro Vierchowod, Marco Branca, and Tomás Locatelli. Under the long era of the Pozzo family, who have managed the club since 1986, Udinese has become a benchmark for the quality of its international scouting, launching Serie A champions such as Oliver Bierhoff, Stefano Fiore, Pierluigi Casiraghi, Roberto Muzzi, David Pizarro, Rodrigo Palacio, Alexis Sánchez, Antonio Di Natale, Samir Handanović, Antonio Candreva, Cyril Théréau, Bruno Fernandes, Roberto Pereyra, and Gerard Deulofeu. International highlights include qualification for the Champions League in 2011-12 and a stable presence in European competitions for over a decade. Udinese has not won major titles but remains one of the most respected clubs in Italian football for its ability to discover talent.
Udinese Jerseys: Signed Store, Player-Issued, and Match-Worn
The Udinese jerseys available on MTM Memorabilia represent a high-level collectible documentation of the Friulian club. The catalog includes three distinct types of official jerseys. Signed store jerseys are commercial versions signed by the protagonists of the black and white history, from champions of Zico's era to the great talents discovered by modern Udinese. Player-issued jerseys are official items assigned by the club to players for training, the bench, or reserves, identical to game-worn jerseys but not used in official matches. Match-worn jerseys are actually worn on the field during official competitions, the rarest and most sought-after piece by international collectors. Each jersey covers different seasons and players: from the Pouchain, NR, and Adidas years of the 1970s-1980s to the Lotto, Diadora, Asics, Hummel, Legea, Adidas, and Macron eras of the new millennium, with historical sponsors such as Zanussi, Ricoh, Bertoli, Beach Tennis, Friulia, Dacia, Bluenergy, and Hellio, up to recent Macron seasons. The provenance of each jersey is documented, and authenticity is verified by our experts.
