The Giallorossi Story
Associazione Sportiva Roma was founded on June 7, 1927, from the merger of three Roman clubs—Roman, Alba-Audace, and Fortitudo-Pro Roma—at the behest of the Fascist regime, which intended to create a great Roman team. The Giallorossi colors, inspired by the city of Rome, immediately became a symbol of belonging for the entire city. The first Scudetto arrived in 1941-42 under the guidance of Alfréd Schaffer, with a team that included legendary captain Attilio Ferraris and Argentine Amadeo Amadei. However, the golden decade was the 1980s under Nils Liedholm: Roma won the historic 1982-83 Scudetto with Bruno Conti, Roberto Pruzzo, Falcão, and Carlo Ancelotti, reaching the following year the 1984 European Cup final, lost only on penalties against Liverpool in their own Stadio Olimpico, on a historic and painful night. In the 2000s, Fabio Capello's Roma won their third Scudetto in 2000-01 with Francesco Totti, Gabriel Batistuta, Vincenzo Montella, Cafu, and Walter Samuel, narrowly missing other triumphs in the following decade with Luciano Spalletti on the bench. Under José Mourinho, Roma won the historic 2022 Conference League, the club's first European trophy. In total, the Giallorossi have won 3 Scudetti, 9 Coppa Italia, 2 Supercoppe Italiane, 1 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, and 1 Conference League. Among the great Roman legends are Francesco Totti (second in the 2007 Ballon d'Or), Daniele De Rossi, Bruno Conti, Giuseppe Giannini, Aldair, Cafu, Gabriel Batistuta, and captain Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Roma Jerseys: Signed Store, Player Issued, and Match Worn
The Roma jerseys available on MTM Memorabilia represent a high-level collectible documentation of the Giallorossi club. The catalog includes three distinct types of official jerseys. Signed store jerseys are commercial versions signed by the protagonists of Roma's history, from the 1983 Scudetto champions to the players of the 2001 triumph, up to contemporary stars. Player issued jerseys are official samples assigned by the club to players for training, benches, or reserves, identical to game-worn jerseys but not used in official matches. Match worn jerseys are actually worn on the field during official competitions, the rarest and most sought-after piece in international collecting. Each jersey covers different seasons and protagonists: from the Pouchain and Patrick years of the eighties to the Adidas, Asics, Nike, Diadora, Kappa, and New Balance eras of Italian and European triumphs, with historic sponsors such as Barilla, Nuova Tirrena, INA Assitalia, Mazda, Wind, Volkswagen, Disney, Betaland, Qatar Airways, and Riyadh Season, up to recent Adidas seasons. The provenance of each jersey is documented, and authenticity is verified by our experts.
