Piastri's F1 debut in 2023 marked the beginning of a vertical ascent. After retiring from the Bahrain Grand Prix due to technical issues, the Australian achieved his first podium at the Japanese Grand Prix and a victory in the Qatar Sprint Race. In 2024, he became decisive for McLaren's first constructors' title in 26 years, with victories in Hungary and Azerbaijan and a fourth-place finish in the drivers' standings. 2025 saw him contend for the title until the final race in Abu Dhabi, with seven Grand Prix wins in the season and a battle with teammate Lando Norris and Max Verstappen in the three-way decider of the finale. Under contract with McLaren until 2028, Piastri is considered one of the most promising drivers on the grid and a serious contender for the world championship title in the coming seasons.
