Career

Massimo Pezzali, known to all as Max, was born in Pavia on November 14, 1967. An Italian singer-songwriter among the most beloved and representative of his generation, in 1988 he founded the duo 883 with his childhood friend Mauro Repetto, a name inspired by the legendary Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 model. Their official debut took place in 1991 at the Castrocaro Festival with the song that would become one of Italian pop culture's anthems, "Hanno ucciso l'Uomo Ragno" (They Killed Spiderman), which also became the title of their 1992 debut album. This was followed by albums that would define an entire generation: "Nord Sud Ovest Est" in 1993 — featuring singles like "Come mai," "Sei un mito," and "Non me la menare" — "La donna il sogno & il grande incubo" in 1995, "La dura legge del gol!" in 1997, and "Grazie mille" in 1999. After Repetto's departure in 1994, Pezzali continued alone, maintaining the 883 name until 2003, when he officially disbanded the group and began his solo career. His first solo album, "Il mondo insieme a te," was released in 2004 to great commercial success, followed by the 2005 compilation "TuttoMax," certified Diamond in Italy, one of the most prestigious awards in the Italian music scene. In subsequent years, he released new albums such as "Time Out" (2007) and "Terraferma" (2011), as well as celebratory projects like "Hanno ucciso l'Uomo Ragno 2012" and "Max 20" in 2013, which revisited 883 classics in duets with artists like J-Ax, Emis Killa, Club Dogo, Fedez, Baby K, and Claudio Baglioni. "Astronave Max" in 2015 and "Qualcosa di nuovo" in 2020 confirmed his ability to constantly reinvent himself. Overall, between 883 and his solo career, Pezzali has sold over ten million records, figures that consistently place him among the most popular Italian singers of all time. In recent years, he has been the protagonist of sold-out stadium tours — from San Siro to Circo Massimo — confirming the broad appeal of his repertoire that effortlessly spans generations of listeners.
