The Gialloblù Story
Hellas Verona Football Club was founded on November 21, 1903, by a group of students from the Scipione Maffei classical high school, who chose the name "Hellas" suggested by their Greek professor, evoking the grandeur of ancient Greece. The gialloblù (yellow and blue) colors soon became the identity symbol of the Verona club, opposing city rivals Chievo in the fiercely contested Derby della Scala. Hellas Verona's history is marked by a unique achievement in Italian football: the historic Scudetto (championship title) of 1984-85, won under the guidance of Osvaldo Bagnoli with a provincial team that stunned Italian football. That legendary squad included champions such as Hans-Peter Briegel, Preben Elkjær Larsen, Antonio Di Gennaro, Pietro Fanna, Domenico Volpati, Luciano Marangon, Franco Tricella, and captain Roberto Tricella, who snatched the title from the big northern clubs, leaving an indelible mark on Italian football history. That was the quintessential provincial Scudetto, a symbol that with talent and organization, even smaller teams can beat giants. In addition to the Scudetto, Hellas Verona has won a Coppa Italia in 1979-80, a Mitropa Cup in 1985-86, and a Mitropa Supercup in 1988-89. In subsequent years, the Verona club alternated between Serie A and Serie B, remaining a benchmark for football in Northeast Italy. Among the great figures in Hellas's history are Osvaldo Bagnoli, Preben Elkjær Larsen, Hans-Peter Briegel, Domenico Volpati, Antonio Di Gennaro, Pietro Fanna, Roberto Tricella, Giampaolo Montesano, Filippo Galli, and captain Davide Faraoni.
Hellas Verona Jerseys: Autographed Store, Player Issued, and Match Worn
The Hellas Verona jerseys available on MTM Memorabilia represent a high-level collectible documentation of the gialloblù club. The catalog includes three distinct types of official jerseys. Autographed store jerseys are commercial versions signed by the protagonists of Verona's history, from the 1985 Scudetto champions to contemporary players. Player issued jerseys are official samples assigned by the club to players for training, the bench, or reserves, identical to game-worn jerseys but not used in official matches. Match worn jerseys are actually worn on the field during official competitions, the rarest and most sought-after item by international collectors. Each jersey covers different seasons and protagonists: from the Adidas, Pouchain, Patrick, and ABM eras of the 1980s triumphs, to the Asics, Lotto, Hummel, Nike, Diadora, and Macron eras of the new millennium, with historic sponsors such as Canon, Vitasnella, Conad, Vipiteno, Sit-In, and Air Dolomiti, up to recent seasons. The provenance of each jersey is documented, and authenticity is verified by our experts.
