Career

Gianluigi Donnarumma was born in Castellammare di Stabia on February 25, 1999. A goalkeeper of imposing stature (196 cm) and extraordinary early talent, he rose through the youth ranks of Napoli (2003-2013) and subsequently AC Milan. He made his Serie A debut at just 16 years and 8 months — the youngest starting goalkeeper in modern Italian football — immediately establishing himself as the designated heir to the great tradition of Azzurri goalkeepers. With AC Milan, from 2015 to 2021, he made over 250 appearances and won the 2016 Italian Supercup. In 2021, he moved to Paris Saint-Germain where he won four consecutive French championships from 2021-22 to 2024-25, two French Cups, three French Supercups, and most notably the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League, the most prestigious trophy in club football, playing a pivotal role in PSG's journey to the cup. In September 2025, he moved permanently to Manchester City, where he won the 2025-26 English League Cup on his first attempt. With the Italian national team, of which he is captain, he wrote one of the most memorable pages in Azzurri football history: Euro 2020 at Wembley, when he saved decisive penalties from Morata in the semi-final against Spain and Saka in the final against England, earning the title of Player of the Tournament as the best player of the entire competition — an unprecedented recognition for a goalkeeper in the history of the European Championships. In 2025, he was named Best Goalkeeper in the World by IFFHS, solidifying his status as an absolute benchmark in his role globally.
