The History of the Mannschaft
The German national football team was officially formed on April 5, 1908, playing its first match against Switzerland in Basel, which it lost 5-3. After the division of the country following World War II, West Germany represented German football in international tournaments until reunification in 1990, while East Germany had its own separate team. After German reunification, the national team resumed the name Germany, maintaining the strong identity of Teutonic football. The white color of the jersey, inspired by the country's roots, and the imperial eagle embroidered on the chest have become the symbolic identity of the Mannschaft, one of the most decorated national teams in the world. German history is marked by four World Cup victories. The first came in 1954 in Bern in the famous "Miracle of Bern" under Sepp Herberger: West Germany, written off against Puskás' Hungary, overturned expectations by winning 3-2 in the final, the first triumph of the country's post-war rebirth. The second came in 1974 at home under Helmut Schön with Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Sepp Maier, Paul Breitner, and Berti Vogts. The third World Cup was won in 1990 in Italy under Franz Beckenbauer (then coach) by beating Maradona's Argentina in Rome with Andreas Brehme's penalty, in a team that included Lothar Matthäus, Jürgen Klinsmann, Rudi Völler, Pierre Littbarski, and Andreas Möller. The fourth World Cup arrived in 2014 in Brazil under Joachim Löw with the legendary 7-1 semi-final against Brazil and the final won against Messi's Argentina at the Maracanã thanks to Mario Götze's goal in extra time, with champions like Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm (captain), Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos, Mesut Özil, Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, and Miroslav Klose (all-time World Cup top scorer with 16 goals). In addition to the four World Cups, Germany has won three European Championships (1972, 1980, 1996) and one Confederations Cup (2017). Among the great legends of the Mannschaft are Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Lothar Matthäus, Jürgen Klinsmann, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Oliver Kahn, Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos, Miroslav Klose, Thomas Müller, and captain Joshua Kimmich.
Germany Jerseys: Autographed Store, Player Issued, and Match Worn
The Germany jerseys available on MTM Memorabilia represent a high-level collectible documentation of the German national team. The catalog includes three distinct types of official jerseys. Autographed store jerseys are commercial versions signed by the protagonists of Teutonic history, from the 1990 World Cup champions to the 2014 winners in Brazil, up to contemporary stars. Player issued jerseys are official examples assigned by the Federation to players for training, bench, or reserves, identical to the match jerseys but not used in official matches. Match worn jerseys are actually worn on the field during official competitions, the rarest and most sought-after item by international collectors. Each jersey covers different tournaments and protagonists: from the Adidas years (a historic, uninterrupted technical supplier until 2026, one of the longest partnerships in world football) to recent seasons, with the famous "Trikot" design iconic in all its evolutions. The provenance of each jersey is documented and its authenticity verified by our experts.
