The Purple Story
ACF Fiorentina was founded on August 29, 1926, through the merger of two city clubs, initiated by Marquis Luigi Ridolfi. The purple colors, chosen in 1928 to distinguish themselves from other Italian teams, soon became the iconic symbol of the Florence club. The first triumph came with the historic Scudetto in 1955-56, won under the guidance of Fulvio Bernardini with a legendary team that included Giuseppe Chiappella, Miguel Montuori, Julinho, and Giuliano Sarti, securing the championship three matchdays early. That Fiorentina team reached the 1957 European Cup final, which they lost to Di Stéfano's Real Madrid at the Bernabéu. In the 1960s, the second Scudetto arrived in 1968-69 with Giancarlo De Sisti, Amarildo, Mario Maraschi, and Luciano Chiarugi, while the 1961 Cup Winners' Cup confirmed the club's international stature. In the 1990s, Vittorio Cecchi Gori's Fiorentina experienced an exciting period with champions such as Gabriel Batistuta, Rui Costa, Stefan Effenberg, Francesco Toldo, and Edmundo, winning two Coppa Italia titles (1996, 2001) and one Supercoppa Italiana (1996). After bankruptcy in 2002 and rebirth as Florentia Viola, the club returned to Serie A in 2004 and continued to be a protagonist, reaching the Conference League final in 2023 and 2024 under Vincenzo Italiano. In total, the Viola have won 2 Scudetti, 6 Coppa Italia titles, 1 Supercoppa Italiana, 1 Cup Winners' Cup, and 2 Mitropa Cups. Among the great Viola legends are Giancarlo Antognoni, Gabriel Batistuta, Rui Costa, Roberto Baggio (who played in Florence), Daniel Passarella, and Giancarlo De Sisti.
Fiorentina Jerseys: Autographed Store, Player Issued, and Match Worn
The Fiorentina jerseys available on MTM Memorabilia represent a high-level collectible documentation of the Viola club. The catalog includes three distinct types of official jerseys. Autographed store jerseys are commercial versions signed by the protagonists of the lily-flanked history, from the champions of the two Scudetti to the players of the Cecchi Gori era, up to contemporary stars. Player-issued jerseys are official items assigned by the club to players for training, the bench, or as reserves, identical to game-worn jerseys but not used in official matches. Match-worn jerseys are actually worn on the field during official competitions, the rarest and most sought-after item in international collecting. Each jersey covers different seasons and protagonists: from the ABM and Ennerre years of the 1980s to the Lotto, Uhlsport, Fila, Mizuno, Lotto, and Kappa eras of the triumphs of the 1990s, with historic sponsors like 7-Up, Nintendo, Sammontana, Toyota, and Mediacom, up to recent Le Coq Sportif seasons. The provenance of each jersey is documented, and authenticity is verified by our experts.
