Career
Fabio Cannavaro grew up in the Napoli youth academy and made his Serie A debut at a very young age. After spells with Parma (where he won the Coppa Italia, UEFA Cup, and Italian Supercup) and Inter, in 2004 he moved to Juventus, with whom he won two Scudetti. In 2006, he transferred to Real Madrid, where he won two consecutive Spanish championships, forming a top-level central defensive partnership with Sergio Ramos. He ended his European career in 2010, again with Juventus, before playing in Abu Dhabi until his retirement in 2011.
With the Italian national team, he made 136 appearances (second all-time) and captained the Azzurri in their 2006 World Cup triumph in Germany, lifting the World Cup trophy at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid. In the same year, he won the Ballon d'Or, becoming the fifth Italian in history to do so, after Sívori, Rivera, Paolo Rossi, and Roberto Baggio. After retiring, he embarked on a coaching career, with experiences in China, Saudi Arabia, and Italy.
