Carlos Sainz Jr.

Carlos Sainz Jr. (Madrid, September 1, 1994) is a Spanish racing driver, active in Formula 1 with Williams from 2025. Son of the legendary Carlos Sainz Sr., two-time World Rally Champion and four-time Dakar Rally winner, he made his F1 debut in 2015 with Toro Rosso, subsequently racing for Renault, McLaren, and Ferrari (2021-2024), where he secured 3 of his 4 victories. Nicknamed "Chilli" and "Smooth Operator," he races with number 55 and has been a director of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association since 2024.

The Career

Carlos Sainz Vázquez de Castro was born in Madrid on September 1, 1994, the son of the legendary Carlos Sainz Sr., two-time World Rally Champion (1990, 1992) and four-time Dakar winner. Although he grew up in the shadow of his rally driver father, he developed a passion for Formula 1 thanks to his early support for compatriot Fernando Alonso. He began karting at age 10, winning the CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific KF3 Championship in 2008 and the prestigious Monaco Kart Cup in 2009. In 2010, he moved to single-seaters with Formula BMW Europe, then won Formula Renault NEC in 2011 and Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2014, earning access to F1 through the Red Bull Junior program. He debuted in Formula 1 in 2015 with Toro Rosso alongside Max Verstappen, distinguishing himself with his fighting spirit and technical maturity. After experiences with Renault (2017-2018) and McLaren (2019-2020) — where he achieved his first career podium in Brazil 2019 — in 2021 he fulfilled his dream of wearing the Ferrari suit, inheriting Sebastian Vettel's seat. With the Scuderia di Maranello, he experienced the most important seasons of his career: 4 victories (British GP 2022, Singapore GP 2023, Australian GP 2024, Mexican GP 2024), 25 podiums, and over 1,100 points. In 2023, he was the only non-Red Bull driver to win a Grand Prix, and in 2024, he won in Melbourne ten days after an appendectomy. In early 2024, the announcement of Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari for 2025 forced him to change teams: on July 29, 2024, he signed a multi-year contract with Williams. In 2025, he led Williams to its best result since 2017 (P5 constructors) with 2 podiums (third place in Azerbaijan and Qatar) and a sprint in Austin. He continues with Williams in 2026 under the new name Atlassian Williams F1 Team, awaiting new technical regulations.

Why collect a Carlos Sainz Jr. autograph

An original Carlos Sainz Jr. autograph is one of the most sought-after pieces in contemporary motorsport collecting and of the recent Ferrari period. Sainz is considered one of the most complete and consistent drivers of his generation, winner of 4 Grand Prix and a protagonist of an intense Ferrari era alongside Charles Leclerc. His signature is particularly valuable on official Ferrari postcards from 2021-2024, on replica helmets with personalized liveries, on iconic photographs of his victories at Silverstone 2022, Singapore 2023, Australia and Mexico 2024, and on memorabilia related to his move to Williams in 2025 with his first podium in Baku. Its collectible value is supported by his iconic race number — the 55 chosen in homage to his surname (Carlo55ainz) — by the nickname "Smooth Operator" attributed to him by fans, and by his role as director of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association since 2024. A Sainz autograph is a piece of recent Ferrari history and of Williams' sporting revival.
