Brazil

The Brazil national football team is the most successful in the world. Known as "Seleção Verde Amarela", it holds the record for 5 World Cups (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002) and has launched absolute legends such as Pelé, Garrincha, Romário, Ronaldo "the Phenomenon", Ronaldinho, and Neymar.

The history of the Seleção

The Brazilian National Football Team was officially formed on July 21, 1914, playing its first match against Exeter City in Rio de Janeiro. The yellow-gold color of the jersey, chosen in 1953 after the trauma of the Maracanazo to represent the sun and the country's wealth, combined with the green of hope and the blue of the ocean in the shorts, has become the most recognizable iconic symbol of world football. The history of the Seleção is the most glorious of all time: five World Cups won, an absolute record in international football, achieved in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002. The first triumph in 1958 in Sweden brought to light a seventeen-year-old phenomenon destined to become the greatest of all time: Edson Arantes do Nascimento, "Pelé," who scored six goals in the tournament. The repeat win in 1962 in Chile was thanks to Garrincha and Vavá. But it was in 1970 in Mexico that the Seleção of Pelé, Tostão, Jairzinho, Rivellino, Gérson, Carlos Alberto, and Clodoaldo entered legend with what is considered by many to be the greatest team in history, definitively winning the Rimet Cup for their third triumph. The fourth World Cup came in 1994 in the USA under Carlos Alberto Parreira with Romário (top scorer), Bebeto, Cafu, Branco, Mauro Silva, Dunga, and Taffarel, a victory on penalties against Roberto Baggio's Italy. The fifth and final triumph came in 2002 in Korea-Japan under Luiz Felipe Scolari with the legendary Ronaldo "il Fenomeno" as top scorer (with 8 goals), alongside Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Lúcio, and Marcos. In addition to the five World Cups, Brazil has won 9 Copa Américas, 4 Confederations Cups, and an Olympic gold medal in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro with Neymar as captain. Among the great legends of the Seleção are Pelé (King of Football by definition, with three World Cups won), Garrincha, Zico, Sócrates, Romário, Ronaldo il Fenomeno, Ronaldinho (2 Ballons d'Or), Rivaldo, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Kaká (Ballon d'Or 2007), Neymar Jr. (Seleção's all-time top scorer) and captain Marquinhos.

Brazil jerseys: autographed store, player issued, and match worn

The Brazil jerseys available on MTM Memorabilia represent a high-level collectible documentation of the green-and-gold Seleção. The catalog includes three distinct types of official jerseys. Autographed store jerseys are commercial versions signed by the protagonists of Brazilian history, from the 1970 World Cup champions led by Pelé to the 1994 and 2002 winners with Ronaldo, up to contemporary stars. Player issued jerseys are official samples assigned by the Federation to players for training, bench, or reserves, identical to game jerseys but not used in official matches. Match worn jerseys are actually worn on the field during official competitions, the rarest and most sought-after item in international collecting. Each jersey covers different tournaments and protagonists: from the historic Athleta years of the sixties-seventies and the triumphs of 1970, to the Topper, Umbro, and Nike eras (historic technical supplier since 1996), up to recent seasons. The provenance of each jersey is documented, and authenticity is verified by our experts.
