Björn Rune Borg was born in Södertälje, Sweden, on June 6, 1956, and turned professional at a very young age, immediately establishing himself as one of the most precocious and disruptive talents in tennis history. Between 1974 and 1981, he dominated the world circuit with unprecedented consistency and intensity: he won 11 Grand Slam titles — six Roland Garros (1974, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981) and five consecutive Wimbledons from 1976 to 1980 — becoming the first male tennis player in the Open Era to win both tournaments in the same year three consecutive times.
