Career
Andreas "Andi" Brehme was born in Hamburg on November 9, 1960, and began his football career at Barmbek-Uhlenhorst. He made his professional debut for Saarbrücken in 1980, before moving to Kaiserslautern in 1981. In 1986, he joined Bayern Munich, with whom he won a German championship (1986-87) and a German Supercup (1987), reaching the 1987 European Cup final. In 1988, he moved to Italy: together with his compatriot Lothar Matthäus, he was signed by Giovanni Trapattoni's Inter. In Milan, he experienced the golden age of his career, forming the famous "Three Germans" with Matthäus and Jürgen Klinsmann, and winning the record-breaking 1988-89 Scudetto (58 points in 34 match days, an absolute record), the 1989 Italian Supercup, and the 1990-91 UEFA Cup, won in the final against Roma. In four seasons with the Nerazzurri, he made a total of 154 appearances and scored 14 goals. In 1992, he moved to Real Zaragoza, then returned to Kaiserslautern until 1998: with the Rhineland club, he won the surprising 1997-98 Bundesliga as a newly promoted team, one of the most memorable achievements in German football. With the national team, he played in three World Cups (1986, 1990, 1994) and three European Championships, making 86 appearances. The culminating moment was the 1990 World Cup in Italy: the best left-back of the tournament, he scored three decisive goals, including the penalty in the 85th minute of the Rome final against Maradona's Argentina, which secured Germany's third world title. In the same year, he finished third in the Ballon d'Or race. After retiring from playing, he took on coaching roles at Kaiserslautern and Unterhaching, and in 2018, he was inducted into the German Football Hall of Fame. He passed away in Munich on February 20, 2024, at the age of 63, due to cardiac arrest.
Why collect an Andreas Brehme autograph
An original Andreas Brehme autograph is one of the rarest and most sought-after pieces of memorabilia related to the record-breaking Inter team and the German national team that won the World Cup at Italia '90. All available autographs were signed by the champion during his lifetime, as he passed away on February 20, 2024: each piece therefore retains a historical and sentimental value destined to grow over time, as Brehme's signature can no longer be obtained today. His autograph is particularly valuable on the Nerazzurri jerseys of Inter's German Treble (Brehme-Matthäus-Klinsmann), on iconic photographs of the Rome final against Argentina, on posters of the 1990 World Cup, and on memorabilia related to the 1990-91 UEFA Cup won against Roma. The collecting value is further supported by Brehme's induction into the German Football Hall of Fame in 2018, his status as third in the 1990 Ballon d'Or, and the rarity of his public appearances in his last years of life, which had already made the autographs in circulation scarce.
