Alvaro Recoba

Alvaro Recoba

Álvaro Alexander Recoba Rivero, known as El Chino (Montevideo, March 17, 1976), is a former Uruguayan footballer who played as a forward. A left-footed playmaker with one of the most powerful and precise left feet of his generation, he is most famously associated with Inter, where he played for ten seasons in two stints (1997-2008), making 261 appearances and scoring 72 goals. With the Nerazzurri, he won two Scudetti, two Coppa Italia titles, two Supercoppa Italiana titles, and the 1997-1998 UEFA Cup. Between 2001 and 2003, he was the highest-paid footballer in the world. In his career, he played 613 matches and scored 200 goals, winning ten titles.

Career

Álvaro Recoba made his professional football debut at just 17 years old with Danubio, a club from his hometown Montevideo, before moving to Nacional in 1996 where he won a Uruguayan championship. The summer of 1997 marked a turning point: Massimo Moratti bought him for Inter for seven billion lire, and on his Serie A debut, coming on as a substitute, he scored a brace against Pirlo's Brescia. From that moment, he enchanted San Siro for ten seasons, interspersed with loans to Venezia (1999) and Torino (2007-2008). The chip from about fifty meters against Empoli in January 1998 was memorable. With the Nerazzurri, he won two Scudetti, two Coppa Italia, two Italian Supercups, and the 1997-1998 UEFA Cup, totaling 261 appearances and 72 goals. After a season with Panionios in Greece, he returned to Uruguay, first to Danubio and then to Nacional, with whom he won two more national titles. He officially retired on March 31, 2016, with a celebratory match at the Gran Parque Central stadium in Montevideo.

Why collect an autograph of Alvaro Recoba

Collecting an original autograph of Álvaro Recoba means preserving a piece of the recent history of Inter and South American football. "El Chino" was one of the most beloved players by the Nerazzurri fans, a protégé of Massimo Moratti and a symbol of an era when pure talent mattered more than tactical systems. His plays—the chip from midfield against Empoli, the masterly free-kicks, the goals directly from corner kicks—have entered the collective memory of Italian football. The most sought-after types are Inter shirts from the 1997-2007 seasons, particularly those from the 1998 UEFA Cup and the two consecutive Scudetti of 2005-06 and 2006-07. Autographs on Nacional Montevideo, Uruguay shirts, and signed photos of his most iconic goals are also appreciated. He is an icon of fantasy that continues to be an object of cult among Interisti collectors.
