Alex Meret was born in Udine on March 22, 1997. After growing up in the youth academies of Donatello Calcio and then Udinese, he made his first-team debut on December 2, 2015, in a Coppa Italia match against Atalanta, immediately showcasing extraordinary technical qualities. After two seasons on loan at SPAL, with whom he won the Serie B championship in 2016-17, contributing to their historic promotion to the top division, he joined Napoli in the summer of 2018. Wearing the blue jersey, he became a regular starter and a key figure in one of the most glorious chapters in Neapolitan history: the third Scudetto in 2022-23, won thirty-three years after the last triumph of the Maradona era. In 2024-25, he repeated the success by winning Napoli's fourth Scudetto with Antonio Conte as coach. Standing 1.90 meters tall and possessing reactivity, timing, and excellent footwork, he is considered one of the leading Italian goalkeepers of his generation. With the Italian National Team, for which he progressed through all youth selections from U16 to U21, he made his senior national team debut in 2019 and was part of the squad that won Euro 2020, becoming European champion with Roberto Mancini's Azzurri on July 11, 2021, at Wembley.
