Alessandro Del Piero was born in Conegliano on November 9, 1974, and grew up in San Vendemiano, in the province of Treviso. He started in the San Vendemiano youth academy and continued at Padova, where he made his Serie B debut in 1991-92 at just 17 years old. In the summer of 1993, he was acquired by Juventus for approximately 5 billion lire, inheriting Roberto Baggio's number 10 shirt.
