Paolo Cannavaro's Player Issued jersey: Parma, champions of Europe and Italy

The first official Parma A.C. jersey for the 1999/2000 season, in its Player Issued version, belongs to one of the most glorious periods in the history of the Emilian club. Made by Champion for sponsor Parmalat, it features the iconic yellow and blue horizontal stripes with a faded effect, a blue V-neck collar, and the official Lega Calcio patch on the right sleeve. Next to the club crest is the tricolor cockade, reserved for the Coppa Italia holders: Parma had indeed won it in the historic 1998/1999 season, along with the UEFA Cup, in one of its most successful years. The back is personalized with the number 28, assigned to Paolo Cannavaro, who made his Serie A debut this very season, on May 14, 2000, replacing his older brother Fabio in Parma-Lecce. The technical finishes and exclusive details reserved for the team's kit supply — absent in commercial stadium versions — attest to the professional authenticity of this item, produced in Italy. A piece preserved in Excellent condition, with intact colors and fabric despite more than twenty-five years since its production.

The player: Paolo Cannavaro

Paolo Cannavaro (Naples, June 26, 1981) is a former Italian defender, younger brother of Fabio Cannavaro, captain of the 2006 World Cup-winning national team. Having grown up in the Parma youth academy, where he joined his older brother, already a key player for the team, he made his Serie A debut on May 14, 2000, precisely in place of Fabio, in Parma-Lecce. After the first few years with limited appearances in the yellow and blue squad, he was loaned to Hellas Verona in the 2001/2002 season, where he made 24 appearances and scored his first Serie A goal. Returning to Parma, he stayed until 2005, becoming an experienced and reliable defender. Later moving to Napoli, he became captain and a key player for several seasons before ending his career at Sassuolo. After retiring, he embarked on a coaching career, also working as an assistant to his brother Fabio in various international experiences.

What is a Player Issued jersey?

A Player Issued jersey is a kit specifically prepared for a particular player but not necessarily worn in an official match. It differs from the commercial version due to a series of precise technical characteristics: professional finishes, internal labels with exclusive team supply indications, match-grade cut and materials, and technical details reserved for the club and not available in stores. It is hierarchically superior to the store version and inferior only to the Match Worn. For vintage football collectors, it represents an authentic piece of high historical value, even more significant when it comes from a top season like Parma's post-European double in 1999/2000.
