In the 2014/2015 season, he was a starter in Mandorlini's midfield alongside Tachtsidis and Obbadi, contributing to a historic season with the presence of champions like Luca Toni, Serie A top scorer with 22 goals. With the Icelandic national team, he played 73 matches, participating in Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup.
