Luca Saudati's Player Issued jersey: the blue number 11 in Serie B 2009/10

The first official Empoli FC long-sleeved Player Issued jersey for the 2009/2010 season is a rare and highly fascinating example of Italian Serie B football. Made by Asics — Empoli's technical sponsor for the entire 2004-2012 cycle — the kit features the royal blue design with white inserts characteristic of those years, with the distinctive mandarin collar with "Since 1920" written on the back. The Asics logo is prominently displayed on the chest, flanked by the club's emblem, with the Computer Gross sponsor at the top left and the large Limonta Sport sponsor in the center. The patch on the left sleeve bears the historic "Lega Calcio® / Serie B TIM" logo, used by the League in the cadet championship of that period. The back is customized with the number 11 and the surname SAUDATI in white characters. The long-sleeved version is typically prepared for matches played in adverse weather conditions, demonstrating a kit intended for professional use. Size M.

The player: Luca Saudati

Luca Saudati (Milan, January 18, 1978) is one of the most beloved strikers in the recent history of Empoli FC, a club with which he experienced the pinnacle of his career. Having grown up in the AC Milan youth academy — with whom he made his Serie A debut on January 26, 1997, on Verona's pitch — he embarked on a journey that led him, after experiences with Lugano, Monza, Lecco, and Como, to wear the blue Empoli jersey for the first time in the 1999/2000 season, scoring 18 goals in Serie B. After seasons with Perugia, Atalanta, and a return to Empoli in Serie A, it was in the 2006/07 season that Saudati reached the peak of his career: 14 goals in Serie A with the Tuscan club, contributing decisively to Empoli's first historic qualification for the UEFA Cup. He remained in blue for three more seasons, including the two in Serie B in 2008/09 and 2009/10, ending his Empoli adventure after more than 150 total appearances in the blue jersey. With 26 appearances and 2 goals in the 2009/10 season, Saudati played his last starring championship before moving to Spezia.

What is a Player Issued jersey?

A Player Issued jersey is a kit specifically prepared for a specific player but not necessarily worn in an official match. It differs from the commercial version due to a series of precise technical characteristics: professional finishes, customization with the player's name and number, match cut and materials, exclusive technical details reserved for the team supply. It is hierarchically superior to the store version and inferior only to the Match Worn. For collectors, it represents an authentic piece of extremely high historical and commercial value, often impossible to find on the market years after its production.
