Gökhan Inler (Olten, June 27, 1984) is one of the most prestigious Swiss midfielders of his generation, and a historic captain of the Swiss national team in the 2010s. Having developed at FC Basel, FC Aarau, and FC Zürich—with whom he won two Swiss championships—he burst onto the international football scene at Udinese from 2007 to 2011, where he was included in the Serie A Best XI for 2010/11. Moving to Napoli for 18 million euros in 2011, he won two Coppa Italia titles with the Neapolitan club and was granted honorary citizenship of the city. In 2015, he joined Leicester City, where he was part of the historic squad that won the 2015/16 Premier League under Claudio Ranieri. For the national team, he earned 89 caps and scored 7 goals, wearing the captain's armband from 2011 to 2015. He played as a starter in three international tournaments: Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup, and the 2014 World Cup. Today, he is the technical director for Udinese.
