Gene Gnocchi, pseudonym of Eugenio Ghiozzi (Fidenza, March 1, 1955), is one of the most refined and surreal interpreters of Italian comedy. A law graduate and former lawyer, before dedicating himself to entertainment he was a Serie C footballer and frontman of the band I Desmodromici. His pseudonym comes from the fresh pasta company founded by his mother, Fratelli Gnocchi. After his debut at Zelig in Milan in the 1980s, he achieved popularity with cult programs such as Mai dire Gol, Quelli che il calcio, and Striscia la notizia, co-hosted with Tullio Solenghi. A master of the absurd monologue and intelligent satire, he has spanned forty years of television and theater. In 2007, Parma signed him as Gnoccao with the number 52, making him the oldest player ever registered in Serie A. Since 2017, he has been a regular on DiMartedì on La7.
