The Artist: Milena Vukotic

Milena Vukotic was born in Rome on April 23, 1935, the daughter of a Montenegrin diplomat. Trained as a classical dancer before dedicating herself entirely to acting, she made her film debut in 1958 and, throughout the 1960s and 1970s, worked with internationally renowned directors such as Luis Buñuel, Federico Fellini, Mario Monicelli, and Ettore Scola. She became famous to the general public for the role of Pina, wife of accountant Ugo Fantozzi, played alongside Paolo Villaggio from 1980 to 1999, for which she won the Nastro d'Argento in 1994. From 1998 to 2016, she also played grandmother Enrica in the successful series Un medico in famiglia. Winner of the David di Donatello Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024, after three nominations, Milena Vukotic is today recognized as one of the great ladies of Italian cinema.
