Andreas Brehme (Hamburg, November 9, 1960) is a football coach and former German footballer, who played as a defender or midfielder, considered one of the strongest full-backs of his generation. With the German national team, he became a world champion in 1990 — also scoring the decisive penalty in the final against Argentina — a world runner-up in 1986, and a European runner-up in 1992. After his debut with Barmbek-Uhlenhorst and Saarbrücken, he played five seasons with Kaiserslautern and two with Bayern Munich, winning a German championship (1986-1987) and a German Supercup (1987). He then moved to Inter, winning a Scudetto (1988-1989), an Italian Supercup (1989), and a UEFA Cup (1990-1991) over a four-year period, becoming one of the most beloved foreign stars of Italian football in the months leading up to the World Cup victory immortalized in this photograph. Returning to Kaiserslautern after a spell at Real Zaragoza, he ended his career by winning further German titles.
