Alessandro Altobelli (Sonnino, November 28, 1955) is one of the greatest strikers in the history of Italian football. A natural goalscorer with refined technique, he is inextricably linked to Inter for eleven consecutive seasons – from 1977 to 1988 – becoming the club's second all-time leading scorer with 209 goals in 466 appearances, surpassed only by the legendary Giuseppe Meazza. With the Nerazzurri, he won one Scudetto and two Coppa Italia titles. The pinnacle of his career came on July 11, 1982, at the Bernabeu in Madrid, when he scored the third goal in the World Cup final against West Germany, crowning Italy as World Champions. The number 18 he wore with the Azzurri jersey is the one Altobelli personally autographed here, transforming this artwork into a unique historical document of Italian football.
